FREE PRINTABLE INSPIRATIONAL WALL ART – SMALL STEPS EVERY DAY
This week’s free printable is this pretty inspirational wall art. These words – small steps every day – have been my mantra over the last few weeks.
We’re approaching the end of January which is the time when most of us give up our new year resolutions or goals. We set our goals at the beginning of the year feeling excited about them and determined to achieve them. But after a few weeks we lose interest or don’t see the progress quickly enough or it feels like our goals are too big and out of reach.
That’s when we need to take a deep breath and think about breaking our goal into smaller chunks.
- Want to lose 20 lbs? Focus on losing 2lbs, then the next 2lbs.
- Want to quit smoking? Decide to just get through today. And do this every day.
- Want to get out of debt? Aim for a non-spending day today, then tomorrow and so on.
I’ve set huge goals for my business for 2017. I’ve got so many plans and tasks that when I think about everything I need to do it’s completely overwhelming. I have a part time job, a family to look after and a business to build so my business time is limited. I overcome this by doing a little work (or sometimes a lot) every day. Every evening when my children are in bed I spend at least a couple of hours on my design business. It might not sound like a lot but each day I set myself small manageable tasks to complete and I know they’re little pieces of the jigsaw which will add up to achieving my goals.
I also decided to start exercising this year. As I’ve been mostly inactive for quite a while I’m embracing ‘small steps every day’ by doing a 15 minute workout every day. One of my biggest excuses for not exercising is lack of time but I know I can squeeze in 15 minutes a day. And do you know what? I can already feel my fitness levels improving plus I’m actually enjoying it!
So when your goal feels too big, don’t give up. Just break it down into small steps every day.
